Welcome to The Good Wool Shop
The Good Wool Shop opened in Formby in March 2015 as a haven for natural yarn lovers in Liverpool and Merseyside. You will find yarns spun from sheep and alpaca fleece, silk and cotton fibres, wool shorn from British sheep and spun in Britain, natural fibres blended with synthetics and familiar brands of man made yarns. Alongside the yarns you’ll find patterns on paper and help finding millions more online. We stock luxury and budget knitting needles and crochet hooks, sewing thread and needles and other essentials and a bright and beautiful selection of ribbons and buttons.
To help our customers to make the most of all we sell, we organise classes for beginners in knitting and crochet, with workshops in trickier techniques if you are already skilled with hook and needle. And because knitting and crochet are such wonderfully sociable crafts, we hold informal drop-in knit/crochet and natter sessions too.
The Good Wool Shop has the great good fortune to share premises with Derbyshire’s cards and gifts, the Flower Studio and Cathy’s Tea Room – so there are beautiful and delicious things here for all tastes.
You will find us at Derbyshire’s, on Chapel Lane in the heart of Formby. See “contact us” for details of how to get here, or check out what’s new on our Facebook page @thegoodwoolshop.
Our usual opening hours are Monday – Saturday 9.15am – 5pm but if you are making a journey especially to visit it’s always worth calling beforehand. From 1 July to 3 September our hours are slightly shorter: 10am to 4.30pm, to allow for a bit more time with the family. 8 – 13 August this will be further reduced to 12 – 4.30pm.
