My Fridays are now settling into a new pattern, and I have to say I’m enjoying it (all apart from the early start!) The Good Wool Shop has a new incarnation as The Good Wool Stall on Formby market, and we have a regular pitch opposite Boots the Chemist. On sunny days especially there’s a real continental buzz about the village, with lots of people coming in to meet friends, stop for coffee and browse the stalls. It’s lovely to see former shop customers again and I’m enjoying getting to know new Friday regulars and occasional visitors too. Obviously I can’t take all my stock down every week so I’m ringing the changes, with a different “clearance offer” every Friday and varying selections of yarn and other items.
The market official hours are from 9am – 4pm, though naturally with setting up and packing away I’m there before and after those times. Please note that because of family holidays there will be no Good Wool Shop stall on Fridays 4 and 11 August, nor on 1 September.
As last year, we’ll be having a stall at the PopUp Wool Show in Port Sunlight on Saturday 19 August. This will be a chance to buy some of our more specialist and luxury yarn, with some unrepeatable special offers. The Show makes a great day out as it’s held at the beautiful Hulme Hall, with the Port Sunlight museum, gallery and tea shop just round the corner.
We’ve come to the end of this season’s workshops and courses, but one-to-one tuition in knitting and crochet can still be arranged – just ask! And the Knit and Natter groups carry on whatever the weather.
